This position is responsible for the materials management function
relating to the planning, procurement, storage, control and
distribution of materials and products to meet Company objectives
and customer requirements. This involves the responsibility of
directing and administering some or all of the following functions;
Purchasing, Production Control, Inventory Control, Shipping and
Receiving, Customer Service, and Warehouse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other
duties may be assigned.
1.Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries
to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and
premium transportation charges. 2.Assists with the taking and
valuing of the year-end physical inventory.
3.Maintain a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish
the Warehouse mission in an effective and efficient manner.
Interview and recommend applicants for hire for the warehouse and
any other departments supervised. 4.Oversees and ensures proper
production control planning and scheduling programs to meet sales
forecasts and to balance the level of manpower and machine
requirements. Makes certain that deviations to the production
schedule are investigated and properly followed up. 5.Ensures
proper customer contact relating to their requirements, i.e.,
requests, inventories, deliveries, order patterns and concerns with
regard to such. Assists in managing the internal requirements of
Customer Service with respect to materials, information systems and
necessary reporting needed to meet customer expectations.
6.Facilitate and maintain strong channels of communication with
customer service, scheduling, production and purchasing and
facilitate any necessary follow-up to ensure smooth movement of
goods. 7.Oversees the purchasing and/or contracting for materials,
supplies and services for the operation of the Division, in
addition to all inventory items. Confers with requesting parties
when specific sources are requested. Investigates and solves
problems resulting from material shortages, however caused.
Responsible for the purchase and delivery of raw materials. 8.Plans
layout of warehouse, and other storage areas, considering product
movement, size, weight and related factors of items stored.
9.Responsible for budgets and business planning for department and
responsible for establishing and meeting department goals and
objectives. 10.Establishes and maintains purchasing practices and
policies to ensure honest, fair and ethical relationships with
vendors. Keeps informed on legal matters that affect purchasing
policies. 11.Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for
new materials, suppliers and processes to achieve the best possible
quality, reliability, prices, continuity and delivery. 12.Keeps
abreast of materials and packaging markets and materials pricing
trends that affect Division products. 13.Develops, establishes and
provides for the maintenance of reporting systems that relate to
the job function.
14.Manages the shipping and receiving functions of the Division and
oversees the storage of purchased supplies and finished goods.
15.Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and
evaluated performance of Warehouse and other supervised
departments. Ensure their ability to safely operate material
handling equipment to move materials to and from storage
configurations; counsels, records, and disciplines as necessary.
Develops Department Specialist to effectively oversee the daily
routines of their assigned crew.
RequirementsBachelor's degree in Business Management,
Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field plus 5 years of
experience required, or equivalent training and work related
experience. --- Manufacturing experience required; plastics, food,
pharma, medical packaging experience is preferred. --- Experience
in Procurement, using ERP systems and inventory control
measures/tools required. --- Thorough understanding of materials
management, operations, production planning, scheduling, freight
contracting and warehousing required. --- Computer skills required
for multiple graphs, reports and charts.--- Computer literacy /
advanced excel, Microsoft and outlook skills required.--- Good
communication and organizational skills and be able to multitask in
a fast pace environment required. --- 3 plus years of prior
managerial experience preferred.--- LEAN Manufacturing is a
plus.--- LEAN Six Sigma certification is a plus.--- Understanding
food/product safety, cGMP's, 3rd party auditing certifications is a
plus.--- Software implementations and continuous improvement
projects experience related to customer or product improvement is a
