Job Description:
Job Summary:Join the fast-paced and exciting world of emergency
veterinary medicine! This position performs technical
responsibilities in support of the 24/7 needs of the Emergency and
Critical Care units (ECC) of UW Veterinary Care (UWVC). The
position requires the individual to make independent and
responsible decisions which may affect the outcome/quality of
animal life. Make a real difference in patients' and their owners'
lives! Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform
specialized technical tasks. Responsibilities may include, but are
not limited to:1) Oversees/guides workflow in area focusing on
special patient needs.2) Anticipates needs of clinicians in
procedures and primary care.3) Participates in case overviews to
better access and direct technical patient support.4) Develops
knowledge and responsibility in area of specialization to include
maintenance of special equipment, instructingothers in use and
care, assisting clinician/students in procedures.5) Contributes to
team management care utilized in Critical Care Unit and Emergency

UWVC policies and proceduresMaintenance and knowledge of equipment
in the department and hospitalParticipates in the rotating OC
shifts for the teaching hospitalParticipates in the training and
mentoring of students, interns, technicians, assistants, and
residentsPharmacy medication script fills for hospitalized
animalsRadiographs of patientsSedation and anesthesia for patients

posted at Vet Tech levels 1, 2 and 3. Level is determined by
qualifications based on type of prior veterinary tech experience.To
qualify for Level 1: Entry level, new CVT grad or awaiting to sit
for the CVT exam, or some CVT working experience with no
specialization.To qualify for Level 2: Generally over 2 years of
veterinary tech experience, may substitute years of experience for
specialization.To qualify for Level 3: Veterinary Tech Specialist
(VTS), or highly qualified and specialized in a specific area, may
have prior experience from another university
hospital.License/Certification:PreferredCVT - Certified Veterinary

information.Work Schedule:UW Veterinary Care Emergency and Critical
Care Units (ECC) have a variety of shifts available, schedule will
be determined based on unit need. There are pay incentives for
evening and weekend shifts of $3.00/hour night, $1.80/hour weekend,
and the total you could earn is $4.80/hour for weekend and night
differential on top of the base pay! This position is also eligible
for a $3.00/hour ECC shift differential in addition to the night
and weekend differentials.Will include holiday and weekend shifts.
Potential for additional on-call hours as required by the
hospital.Work Type:Full or Part Time: 25% - 100%It is anticipated
this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a
designated campus work location.Appointment Type,
Duration:Ongoing/RenewableSalary:Minimum $18.00 Maximum $28.00
HOURLYDepending on QualificationsSign-on Bonus of 5% of base pay
(based on FTE) to be paid quarterly over the first year of
employment (Minimum of $1,800+ for Veterinary
