- Certification Details
- Registered in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS).
- BLS must be certified through the American Heart Association
ONLY.
- Job Details
- Traveler must meet all minimum requirements below to be
considered.
- Only submit traveler who can work schedule in posting and
interested in the unit.
- The Cardiac Sonographer independently performs professional
level assessments and a variety of non-invasive studies using
ultrasound and related diagnostic technology as appropriate.
- The results of these exams are used to direct the course of
patient care.
- The sonographer uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify,
record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to evaluate anatomical,
pathological, diagnostic disease processes.
- The sonographer assists with transthoracic echo,
transesophageal and stress testing; dobutamine, treadmill exercise
stress echo and carotid duplex.
- The sonographer communicates preliminary impressions of
examination results to reading and supervising physicians.
- All examinations are performed within standard protocols on
adults and geriatric patients, and occasionally on adolescents and
pediatric age groups.
- The sonographer performs examinations using both stationary and
portable equipment.
- The sonographer serves as a clinical instructor for the UW
School of Ultrasound, and participates in the instruction of
fellows, residents, and visiting physicians.
- The sonographer may also participate in clinical research, and
acts as a clinical resource to staff at their own facility and
throughout the system.
- Job Requirements
- Minimum one year cardiac experience required.
- Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma
center or similar size hospital.
- Prior traveler experience highly preferred.
- Needs 2 completed references from recent work
environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only for work
performed in the last two years).
- Schedule Information
- Travelers are the first to float to floors working with
children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's
competency skills/experience.
- The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units,
depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations
within the organization.
- During the travelers assignment, if the primary unit no longer
has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to
complete contract.
- Additional Details
- UW Health is moving away from using outdated file formats for
Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
