This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, as a teaching faculty in a Masters's program preparing speech-language pathology graduate students for careers in schools and medical settings. We are seeking a teaching faculty member to provide leadership within the Speech-Language Pathology program and mentorship for graduate students. This is a non-tenure track, full-time position. The successful candidate will teach courses, advise, and support graduate students. The person in this role will help to coordinate the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy and resources to support student learning. Teach two or more classes for the academic year in the Communication Sciences and Disorders undergraduate and/or graduate Speech-Language Pathology programs. For all courses teaching faculty members will prepare lectures, discussions, class projects, and other evaluative mechanisms (tests), and evaluate student performance, including all test and project grades, as well as the final course grade. Regular weekly office hours will be established and held, with extra help made available to students who need and/or request it. In addition to teaching, the teaching faculty member will serve as the graduate program director. In this role, the successful candidate will advise students, participate in orientation, coordinate and hold information sessions for prospective students, lead open house/recruitment efforts, meet with prospective students, and work closely with the clinic director and chair to ensure students are meeting requirements for graduation. The candidate will lead accreditation activities, including annual reports to CAA and the UW-Madison graduate school. The candidate will lead the MS admissions process, including coordinating reviewers, and management of the process. Responsibilities:Provides classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction associated with more than one lecture or laboratory course, assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction, and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online, and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record. - 10% Assists in developing techniques and/or model programs for carrying out instructional goals in disciplinary areas and may help identify ways in which new techniques could be of assistance - 5% Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements - 10% Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy - 40% Provides classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction, including grading - 5% Supervises the day-to-day activities of work unit employees involved in instructional support as needed - 10% Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties - 10% Advise prospective and current students and provides information on academic requirements; implement academic advising events such as workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers - 5% Complete annual report activities required for continued accreditation of the program - 5% Lead MS admissions and participate in orientation, recruitment, and graduation events Education: Required Master's Degree; Preferred focus in communication sciences and disorder or similarly named field. Preferred: Ph.D.; Preferred focus in communication sciences and disorder or similarly named field.License/Certification: ASHA CCC-SLP - Speech-Language Pathology Certification PreferredAppointment Type/Duration: Terminal, 13-month appointment. Full Time: 100% Additional Information: This position may become renewable if there is a need for an ongoing appointment. Qualifications: A minimum of three years of experience working in speech-language pathology and relevant experience in student advising and mentorship is required. Interest and expertise in teaching.It is anticipated this position requires work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. A period of evaluation will be required.Salary: Minimum: $44,421 ANNUAL (12 months). Depending on qualifications.
