Job Description OUR TEAM: The Benefits Specialist is part of the
Human Resources Team. We are champions of culture and values,

it! YOUR ROLE: As one of two Benefits Specialists, you will work
closely with the Benefits Manager to help employees learn about and
navigate their benefits, shepherd them through difficult times
while providing resources, and explore the next and newest
offerings in the benefits arena. You will work independently to
manage leaves of absence and caregiver needs, and get to know our
newest employees during their New Hire Benefits Orientation. As
part of the Wellness Team you'll help us further integrate our
wellness and benefits offerings to provide the most seamless
service delivery for our internal customers. Through your personal
interactions with employees you'll help shape the benefits strategy
for our award-winning workplace! CORE DUTIES:
1. Independently administer Promega's leave of absence program
(including the disability benefit and payroll coordination), under
the direction of the Benefits Manager. Ensure that necessary
activities are conducted in a timely manner and maintain compliance
under all applicable legislation.
2. Provide education, including group sessions and orientations, to
employees and address their questions, issues, and concerns in a
timely and courteous way.
3. Support the integration of benefits and wellness programs and
initiatives. Work with the Promega Wellness Team, Promega Wellness
Center Staff, and internal/external wellness providers to foster a
culture of health at Promega.
4. Create and maintain accurate records and tracking including, but
not limited to, leave of absence, employee personnel files and
benefit change requests.
5. Develop a thorough understanding of Promega's benefits and
integrated wellness programs, ensuring that employees understand
the value of their benefits and our wellness offerings.
6. Support the Benefits Manager in benefit financial reporting
processes.
7. Coordinate and execute the annual renewal and benefit enrollment
processes for all benefit plans.
8. Learn and manage benefit reporting out of the HRIS system.
9. Attend and participate in committee and team meetings as
requested.
10. Monitor, design and maintain benefits content on the custom web
portal to ensure information is up to date and accurate.
11. Support and resolve vendor issues, assist with vendor changes,
and keep the Benefits Manager informed of potential ongoing
problems or missed service levels.
12. Act as a resource and back-up for both the Benefits Assistant
and Benefits Manager.
13. Manage the planning, preparation, and execution of benefits
events.
14. Document current procedures; provide recommendations for
streamlining processes and procedures.
15. Demonstrate inclusion through their own words and actions and

16. Embrace and be open to incorporating Promega's 6 Emotional &
Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles in daily work.
17. Understands and complies with ethical, legal and regulatory
requirements applicable to our business.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or proven work experience that ensures you
are ready to be successful in this role.
2. 5-7 years of relevant benefits work experience.
3. Demonstrated work experience organizing multiple time-sensitive
projects or requests.
4. Ability to consistently deliver results with minimal
supervision.
5. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential
information appropriately.
6. Demonstrated advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Outlook, and HR systems.
7. Demonstrated professionalism and tact in dealing with internal
and external customers.
8. Excellent communication skills, including highly effective
listening skills and writing skills as well as highly effective
speaking skills, both 1:1 and in a group.
9. Ability to work effectively both independently and with
others.
10. Must possess a valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Post-high school education in human resources or closely related
field.
2. Benefit and/or Human Resources certification. PHYSICAL
DEMANDS:
1. Ability to communicate with employees via phone, video, e-mail
and in person.
2. Ability to move between buildings on campus.
3. Ability occasionally to move boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.
4. Ability to remain stationary for several hours at a time.
