Job Description:
Description:
The senior technologist will assist in both the improvement of
current, and creation of new technologies. The R&D Scientist is
expected to be a strong thought leader and go-to individual for
technological problems. They would be charged with analysis,
improvement, assessment, and development of existing component and
technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited
to:
Design and perform experiments to determine fundamental properties
and characteristics of various technologies important to Shine. A
partial list of relevant technologies includes accelerators, ion
beams, ion sources, detectors, magnetic confinement, and thermal
processes.
Develop complex mathematical models of various physical phenomena
including electrostatics, magnetostatics, plasmas, stress/strain,
heat transport and cooling, etc.
Analyze existing technologies to guide development for improved
performance
Apply physical principles to the design and fabrication of novel
technological devices
Oversee technology design and participate in design review
efforts
Support business development efforts by participating in customer
interface and in supplying relevant technical analysis and
documentation to meet customer bid requirements
Pursue, write, obtain, and execute government contracts and grants
that align with company's business
Requirements:
Advanced degree in experimental physics, engineering, or related
scientific field. A BS with 5+ years of relevant experience will
also be considered.
Excellent communication skills, strong team player, and the ability
to work cross functionally in a fast-paced, high-productivity
startup environment
Ability to create complex analytical model of a variety of physical
phenomena
Ability to use various mathematical and FEA codes for multi-physics
simulations
Demonstrated ability to translate modeling results into functional
hardware
Deep understanding of material/plasma interactions highly
desirable
Experience in plasma physics and vacuum systems highly
desirable
Experience in CAD highly desirable
Experience in RF and microwave technology highly desirable
Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant's
ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export
Controls. Additionally, applicant's eligibility may be conditioned
based upon meeting the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements
for access to Safeguards Information, which typically requires a
