The mission of the University of Wisconsin System Administration, Office of Internal Audit is to provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value to, protect, and strengthen the management of the University of Wisconsin System and its universities. Central to this mission is performing and conducting engagements in a manner in which assurance can be ascertained as to whether University of Wisconsin System programs, policies, and practices are conducted in accordance with state law and Board of Regents policy. Position Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Audit Executive and/or Director of the UW System Office of Internal Audit, this position is responsible for assisting management in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by assisting in the independent completion of audits related to the UW System under the supervision and support of experienced managers and directors. This position is expected to conform to the Internal Audit Charter, the Institute of Internal Auditors Code of Ethics, and other auditing standards implemented by the Office of Internal Audit. This position may require periodic travel. Position Responsibilities

  • Plans and/or conducts audits of internal controls covering a broad range of the institution s operations to assure that the institution s assets are protected and to determine if functional areas are conducting operations in compliance with established guidelines, policies, procedures, and governmental, grant/contract and legal requirements
  • Plans, assigns, and reviews work product of other auditors as assigned
  • Analyzes records, systems, and processes
  • Prepares written documentation of work performed and develops reports
  • Interviews and advises staff and management concerning the work and to convey results
  • Assists in the preparation and testing of compliance related policies, procedures, and training programs Minimum Qualifications Senior Auditor
  • Bachelor s degree in business, accounting, finance, management information systems, or related field.
  • Experience in planning and conducting audits. Preferred Qualifications
    Well-qualified applicants will also have the following:
  • Expert knowledge or progress towards a certification such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or other equivalent certification(s).
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices and/or IT, with special emphasis on the Integrated Framework of Internal Control published by COSO and COBIT.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).
  • Knowledge of IT Systems and experience in auditing IT systems.
  • Knowledge of basic IT controls and/or general computer controls such as logical security, physical security, networking, change management, problem management, disaster recovery, operations and/or applications.
  • Technical skills in data extraction from multiple and un-integrated datasets, analysis, statistical inference, sample and in synthesizing information to draw conclusions.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), planning, organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, and customer service skills. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Infrequent travel may be required. The work location is negotiable between the successful candidate and the supervisor. We are offering office locations in WI at Madison, Milwaukee, Eau Claire, La Crosse, Oshkosh and Green Bay campuses. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
    This position is a full-time, academic staff (exempt) position. Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $55,000 to $86,700 commensurate with the candidate s education, related experience, and qualifications.
