Job Title: Storytelling Senior Specialist

Reports to: Communications Director

Salary: $70,000 - $72,000/annually generous benefits package

Location: Madison or Milwaukee, WI

Start date: January 2021

The Opportunity: As a Storytelling Senior Specialist, you will work across departments, with county parties, and with local stakeholders to recruit and train a roster of volunteers to effectively share their personal stories in various settings -- including with the media. You will also serve as a liaison between county parties and the DPW communications team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Help recruit storytellers and media surrogates across the state.
  • Media train storytellers and surrogates.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with storytellers, local stakeholders, and county parties
  • Help plan, staff, and do advance work for media events.
  • Act as the communications team's liaison with grassroots partners and county parties.
  • Work closely with the party's organizing and political departments to identify potential storytellers and surrogates.

    Qualifications (Required):

    • Excellent Organizational Skills - Prior experience demonstrating the ability to prioritize and manage details to efficiently multitask.
    • Track Record Messaging to Diverse Audiences - Demonstrated track record of messaging communications to diverse audiences with varying priorities
    • Ability to Meet Tight Deadlines - Keeps calm in stressful situations. Demonstrated ability to handle incoming information from several mediums while remaining incredibly organized to meet tight deadlines.
    • Media Preparation Experience - Previous experience effectively creating talking points and/or giving media training.

      Qualifications (Preferred):
      • Press Event Planning - Demonstrated track record to plan, execute and create successful and engaging press events to generate earned media coverage.
