Job Description:

Drew University seeks applications for the Director of the Drew University Career Center . This role supports the goals, objectives, and outcomes of Launch through their leadership and oversight of the Center’s innovative community engagement, immersive learning, and equitable support mechanisms for its facilitation of students’ and alumnx’s career and professional development. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Associate Provost for Immersive Learning & Career Design.

Key Responsibilities:

Co-develop and oversee the vision and mission of the Drew University Career Center and lead its intentional contribution to the Launch approach and Drew University’s mission and goals, including a clear focus on community engagement and equitable immersive learning.

Initiate, develop, maintain, delegate as needed, and oversee effective and collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, and staff to further engage them in the preparation and immersive learning of our new generation of leaders.

Initiate, develop, engage, and steward external constituents of the University, including alumnx, employers, parents and family members, and other community members, to involve them in the innovative facilitation of immersive learning opportunities for Drew students.

Lead collaboratively the innovative design, implementation, and evaluation of the Center’s community-based, experiential facilitation of undergraduate and graduate students’ and alumnx’s career development curricula (e.g., meaningful decision-making, career action planning, community engagement, network development, experiential learning, and professional development) through robust digital presence, scalable engagement, and community involvement.

Lead collaboratively and oversee the integration of intercultural development content into the Center’s curriculum and model, co-facilitate and support the Center’s focus on diversity, equity and inclusion.

Model, oversee, and, as necessary, provide limited career-curriculum responsive coaching, connecting, and presentations in diverse, creative formats to assist undergraduate and graduate students and alumnx with their career and professional development.

Co-lead and oversee the innovative distribution and promotion of experiential learning opportunities and information on internships, undergraduate research, summer jobs, on-campus or local part-time jobs, and other experiential learning opportunities conducive to students’ career development and preparation.

Promote pervasively the efforts of the Career Center and its collaborative leadership of the Launch approach to all Drew constituents through a variety of creative marketing efforts.

Co-lead the development and implementation of all necessary office policies and procedures.

Lead the preparation of regular and needed reports, and the strategic and systematic collection and analysis of comprehensive participation, satisfaction, learning and impact data relevant to the career and professional development of students and alumnx, and the effectiveness of the efforts of the Center.

Leverage cutting-edge technology (e.g., Launchpad, Handshake, Drew Connect) to provide increased relevance to career development and community engagement facilitation efforts, and co-lead the identification, promotion and administration of an effective web presence and the right combination of technology.

Lead the development of a functional budget, supervise expenditures, and maintain fiscal responsibility.

Supervise Career Center staff, delegate supervision as appropriate, and supervise undergraduate and graduate student interns or employees as needed.

Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Provost’s Office or the Associate Provost for Immersive Learning & Career Design.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s or Ph.D. preferred; any field.

A 5-year or longer record of achieving success in organizational facilitation of career development, experiential learning, PD training or instructional design, corporate university recruiting, workforce initiatives, or a related field.

The ability to develop collaboratively the vision, leadership, and strategic direction to the Career Center and its co-leadership of the Drew University Launch approach, including a focus on community development, immersive learning, and equitable access and support.

The desire and ability to identify, outreach to, engage, and work with external constituents of the University, including alumnx, family members, employers, and other community members, to involve them in the facilitation of Drew students’ immersive learning opportunities.

The desire and ability to work with and across academic departments and a broad range of constituencies, including students, faculty, staff, alumnx, employers, and other community members, to meet strategic objectives and accomplish organizational goals, all in the best interests of Drew University students and alumnx.

A demonstrated collegial style of leadership; a honed ability to convene key stakeholders around a cause.

Extensive knowledge and understanding of current and developing issues relevant to higher education and university career services.

Demonstrated skills and comfort in developing relevant, attractive, accessible curricula, preferably digitally, on career or professional development or related content.

A breadth of understanding of career readiness, experiential learning, employer development, and educational andragogy.

The ability to work with diverse individuals and groups and a commitment to promote a work environment that values, encourages and considers diversity, inclusion and equity as an asset to decision-making and performance.

Data-informed thinking and decision-making with a keen ability to share the story of success.

Broad understanding and use of career outcomes data, including the use of participation, satisfaction, learning and impact data for a broad awareness, honed data processes and applications, strategic messaging, and developed strategies and partnerships.

Ability to leverage cutting-edge technology to provide increased relevance to career development and community engagement facilitation efforts. Ability to co-lead the identification, promotion and administration of an effective web presence and the right combination of technology.

Exceptional analytical, communication (oral, written, and presentation), interpersonal, organizational, program-planning, project-management, relationship-building, and teamwork skills.
