RESEARCH FACULTY - BRAIN NEUROIMAGING DEMENTIA PATHWAYS Job no: 220076-FA Work type: Faculty Full or Part Time, Faculty-Full Time, Faculty-Part Time Department: SMPH/MEDICINE/GER-AD DEV Location: Madison Categories: Health Care, Medical, Social Services, Instructional, Research, Scientific Position Summary: The UW-Madison Division of Geriatrics welcomes applications for a tenure-track faculty position. The major mission of the successful applicant will be to develop a funded, synergistic and collaborative interdisciplinary research program focused on early detection of spatiotemporal patterns of pathology in longitudinal cohort studies. This faculty position will both expand the existing Geriatrics neuroimaging and Alzheimer's disease research program and complement the existing strengths across biomarker and MRI/PET imaging analysis and interpretation within the Division of Geriatrics and UW-Madison at large. The UW Division of Geriatrics is nationally renowned for its extensive expertise and research programs in aging, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia research. The division is closely integrated with the Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC) at the Madison VA Medical Center, and supports the NIH- funded Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). In addition to research, the new faculty member is expected to provide leadership in his/her domain of expertise and collaborate with faculty across the Department of Medicine and UW, and to participate in interdisciplinary research and training in biomarker and neuroimaging analysis and interpretation. Plans to develop possible translational programs are welcome but not essential. The new faculty member will largely be responsible for establishing a research program, preparing grant applications, presentations, peer-reviewed publications; mentoring trainees including graduate students and postdocs, and engaging in teaching activities within the defined area of expertise. The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the faculty rank. The School of Medicine and Public Health has a deep and profound commitment to diversity both as an end in itself but, also as a valuable means for eliminating health disparities. As such, we strongly encourage applications from candidates who foster and promote the values of diversity and inclusion. Principal Duties: Conduct research, and participate in collaborative interdisciplinary research involving imaging biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Teach graduate level courses in relevant fields. Prepare grant applications, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications. Mentor trainees such as graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. We commit ourselves to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research, outreach, and diversity as inextricably linked goals. The University of Wisconsin-Madison fulfills its public mission by creating a welcoming and inclusive community for people from every background - people who as students, faculty, and staff serve Wisconsin and the world. Candidates must be engaged in PET imaging and quantification of beta-amyloid, tau and other pertinent biomarkers. Those candidates with existing extramural support will receive special attention. Candidates for associate professor or professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at that rank per UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the tenure track.
