Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Systems Administrator to assist them with their current system. This system for same day, expedited registration and issuance of approximately 150,000 vital events yearly. It promotes timely issuance of records, improves data quality and supports the vision of a centralized vital records system. Tasks The incumbent will be part of a four-person team and will serve as a resource for translating business needs and providing technical support for the environment. Monitor production performance and software versioning and plan upgrades to the environment to support business changes. responsible for the overall hardware, software, network infrastructure and configuration of the technical environment for the Vital Records system applications. Work with the vendor s technical staff to coordinate, configure and maintain system enhancements and upgrades. Develop and implement technical policies, performs security tasks, manages and analyzes data, develops and generates reports based on analysis of business needs, and assists users in the installation and use of the system.. Responsible for end user support and will independently investigate technical issues, develop recommendations for resolution and implement approved solutions. As part of investigating technical issues, the incumbent will identify, record, resolve, and when needed, escalate issues to the appropriate staff. Support of the system includes providing assistance with login, password reset, configuration settings, navigation within the systems, providing information on how to obtain authorization, and guidance in actual use of the systems. This position requires extensive knowledge and expertise in information systems and data resource management, underlying technologies, project management, and the role of information technology in business operations. This position will promote services and products and advocate for DHS policies, standards and good practices. This position will be asked to coordinate special projects and research information sources. The employee in this position is expected to use the tools and principles of quality management in performing their daily work which include the following demonstrating exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisor, coworkers, and all customers providing constructive feedback for the purpose of continuous improvement in a manner that is supportive of the and its mission using data collection tools as appropriate using effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work presenting ideas, carrying out assignments, and providing information as required. Ability to log, organize and prioritize work Ability to meet project deadlines. Ability to perform Help Desk services Ability to work independently utilizing critical thinking and discretionary decision-making skill sets Customer Service Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers to solve business challenges while balancing Demonstrated technical competence in a customer support environment Experience working with organizations with highly consensus-based decision-making process Ability to develop effective solutions for application and data issues Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, convey both oral and written instruction, and handle multiple tasks interruptions while providing services in a professional manner Experience in SQL Server database design, T-SQL, stored procedures, and views Experience with Microsoft Server administration and desktop operating systems Experience with Cherwell Administration Support Creating, reviewing and tuning SQL scripting Ability to document procedures, processes, guidelines, and data dictionaries for technical and non-technical users Active Directory Tools Experience troubleshooting technology support issues Creating and reviewing SQL scripting Experience working in a large, very complex organization. Develop Test Plans, Test Cases, and Test Procedures Develop user acceptance plans Document test process and results Skills Desired A plus to have Microsoft SQL Certification Experience in Data Conversion projects Citrix Crystal Reports Experience querying complex, relational databases using SQL andor R programming languages. Skill in writing SQL queries, including a procedural extension to SQL (e.g. T-SQL, PLSQL) Local candidates preferred, not mandatory US citizens and those authorized to work in the US are encouraged to apply.
