We strive to provide a digital customer experience that increases productivity and leads the way to a better tomorrow.Nexant is currently seeking highly skilled developers experienced with building complex business applications using the Laravel, Vue and the Tailwind CSS frameworks for our Utility Services Business Unit. This full-time position will be working with our team in Madison, WI, ideally within the office or remote. This person will be responsible for supporting the development of software tools used to facilitate and enable the delivery of energy efficiency programs. This position will work on a wide range of software tools to fundamentally change how utilities deliver energy efficiency programs to their customers.Requirements* Working within an agile and TDD process to build both the front and back ends of the services and software that our team provides to aid in energy efficiency programs.* Maintain quality control of all deliverable products, demonstrating excellence and objectivity while maintaining both budgets and schedules defined by others which include* Passionate about writing clean and maintainable code with good test coverage, while balancing sticking with what works and exploring new ways of doing things* Implementation of new features in collaboration with other teams within Nexant* Optimization of existing code for performance, maintainability, extensibility and flexibility* Consideration about the developer's experience in code written* Document your development process and features* Provide ongoing support, feedback, and collaboration for existing software applications by serving as a technical contact and lead for internal questions and customer questions. * Mentor and assist team members with development, testing and implementation of features and functionality through common software development processes such as:* Code review of colleague's work* Stand up meetings* Technical requirement gathering* Pair Programming * Team training meetings to encourage continued growth for everyone* Other duties as assigned.Qualifications* Hands-on software development experience in designing and developing high performance, reliable and scalable production systems* 4-5+ years of experience with working professionally with PHP and OOP* 4-5+ years of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development* 4-5+ years of experience with MySQL, Access, or other relational databases* 3+ years of experience working with Laravel or Symfony* 2+ years of working with Vue or React* Experience with test driven development* Experience with server administration and AWS is a plus* Experience with Node/Deno JS is a plus* Familiar with developing RESTful webservices and ORM concepts* Experience tuning applications for performance and scalability* OAuth and JWT Tokens experience is a plus* Excellent problem solving and analytical skills* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language* Self motivated and self-disciplined with getting things done* Practical Knowledge of the Agile Software Development Life cycle and working with tools such as Git and Jira* Knowledge of Utility Industry and related software systems is ideal* B.S. or M.S in Computer Science or related experienceBenefitsSalary and Benefits (U.S.)Nexant offers competitive salaries based on candidate's qualifications.
