Job Summary:

The HR Business Partner will serve as the manager of the Campus Delegation Program within the Compensation Administration team in the Office of Human Resources. As part of our commitment to improving efficiency, our campus will be delegating the approval of most job postings and rate adjustments to our divisional partners. This position will manage that process and will also be responsible for the approval of the more complex, non-delegated matters. Consultation and collaboration with campus partners is critical for this position.

Along with managing the Delegation Program, this position will lead the process of educating our divisional human resources partners on the creation of position vacancies and utilizing the standard job description library. This position will also lead the education and training of rate adjustments and title changes. This position will also perform audit functions within the Compensation Administration team.

Responsibilities:Interprets, advises, and serves as a consultative resource to schools/colleges/divisions on strategy, policies, procedures, statutes, laws, and other human resources services to ensure compliance in accordance to policy and law.

+ 25% Serves as a consultative Human Resources resource and liaison. Interprets, advises on, applies, and disseminates complex policies, procedures, and options to leadership and employees; and recommends best strategies according to established objectives and goals

+ 25% Facilitates and processes complex transactions and programs according to established policies and procedures

+ 10% Audits human resources reports to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures

+ 15% Develops and implements processes and procedures for one or many various HR functions such as employee trainings, recruitments, compensation, and payroll

+ 15% Receives and responds to inquiries in-person, via email, and through various communication mediums and relays information to appropriate entities

+ 10% Contributes to the development of strategic plans and directs staff implementation of initiatives in alignment with strategic goals

Bachelor's Degree



- 2+ years of experience in human resources.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Ability to use web-based human resource information system.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.


- Experience working in an academic or government organization is preferred.

- 2+ years of professional experience working in human resources functions such as classification and compensation.

- Ability to interpret University of Wisconsin policies and procedures as well as federal and state laws and statutes related to human resources.

- Professional experience in communicating complex information related to employment law and or HR policies.

- Good analytical and decision-making skills.

- Ability to plan established priorities and organize varied complex tasks.

- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively, follow through on tasks, and work unsupervised.

- Ability to communicate with tact and discretion in difficult employment and personnel situations.

- Strong aptitude for learning new HR-related software and programs.
