Job Description:

Responsible for ensuring that the room attendants and houseman/public area attendants maintain a clean hotel product (guest rooms, guest hallways (corridors) and guest public areas) according to the brand standards specified for the hotel.
- Inspect a group of guest rooms (usually by floor or floors or as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager) daily to ensure that guest rooms have been properly cleaned or serviced by the Room Attendants.
- Rooms inspected will include vacant and clean rooms, vacant and dirty (check-outs), occupied and dirty (stay-over) and out-of-order rooms. Rooms listed as Do Not Disturb (DND) should be noted and the guest contacted before the end of the day to ensure that the hotel guest will not require any housekeeping services and to see if any fresh towels or guest room amenities are needed by the guest.

Guest room inspection should verify that the Room Attendant has performed the following duties:
o Bed linen changed
o Guest room carpet has been vacuumed; tile floors have been swept and mopped.
o All furniture properly dusted (i.e. picture frames, bed frames, lamps, TV's, dressers, etc.) daily.
o All guest room appliances (i.e. microwave, refrigerators, etc.) have been properly cleaned.
o All fingerprints and smudges (i.e. mirrors, shiny surfaces, windows, etc.) have been properly removed
o Entire bathroom area (i.e. wash shower stall / bathtub, sink, floor, toilet, etc.) has been properly cleaned.
o All guest room amenities and standard room set-up have been completed and in compliance with brand standard.
o Report of any damage found in the room by the room attendant.
o Verify with room attendant that no guest room items (i.e. bedspreads, blankets, furniture or equipment) are missing.
o Retrieve any lost and found item that were bagged and tagged by the room attendant.
o Ensure that all pass keys issued to Room Attendants on Housekeeping Floor Supervisor's floor have been returned at the end of business each day.
o Verify and record any Do Not Disturb (DND) rooms reported by the room attendant.
o Verify that room attendant has shut off all lights, TV's and PTAC (heating and air conditioning units) when leaving the room unless special instructions have be given for PTAC units during extreme winter or summer conditions.

Public area inspections should verify that the Houseman/Public Area Attendant has performed the following duties:
o Guest hallways (corridors) and guest public areas have been properly cleaned and vacuumed.
o Room Attendant's trash and linen bags have been retrieved and taken to the appropriate location (dirty linen has been delivered to the laundry room and trash has been taken to the dumpster).
o Guest hallways (corridors) and elevator landings have been properly vacuumed.
o Ensures that all rollaways and cribs have been placed back in storage.
o Ensures that all guest room mattresses have been properly turned (rotated) when scheduled by the Housekeeping Manager.
o Ensure that all linen closets have been cleaned and properly stocked with the necessary supplies
o Ensure that all service landing areas have been properly cleaned.
o Ensure that all vending machine areas and machines have been cleaned.
o Ensures that all public restrooms have been properly cleaned.
o All elevators have been properly cleaned
o If Houseman/Public Area Attendant helps with cleaning rooms, ensure that guest room inspection is completed as listed above under Room Attendants.
o Ensures that all outside entrance door areas and grounds are well maintained and trash emptied, as needed.

- Become familiar and knowledgeable with hotel's safety policies and emergency procedures to include emergency evacuation procedures. Become familiar with accident prevention policies to include any OSHA related chemical handling (MSDS sheets).
- Attend required safety training (i.e. Bloodborne Pathogens, HazCom, etc.) as required.
- Be approachable
- Be hands on. Lead by example.
- Be an Ambassador of the company
- Any other assignments or tasks as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.

Qualifications:

Previous housekeeping supervisory experience or previous room attendant or cleaning experience preferred
- Ability to lead and manage a diverse group of employees in a professional and fair manner
- Ability to work well under limited supervision
- Ability to work well with others
- Strong work ethic

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. often
- Ability to bend at the waist
- Ability to reach over head
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to walk at least three flights of stairs
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
