The psychiatrist provides direct medical and psychiatric services to patients of Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) and out patients that MMHI has contracted to provide services for via Tele-medicine in accordance with established institution policy, treatment methods, goals of patients and unit policy. Duties include performing psychiatric exams, prescribing medications and treatments, psychiatric consultation with patient and family; participation in and/or conducting in-service meetings, staff meetings, and case conferences; providing consultation to community agencies; physical health assessments; and participation in training of resident, medical students, and unit staff. Special Notes: Due to the nature of these positions, all applicants will be required to allow the Department of Health Services to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled. All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by Mendota Mental Health Institute or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date. Qualifications: Minimally qualified candidates must have: * Possession of a license to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin, or ability to obtain a license prior to appointment, plus a minimum of three (3) years of training in an approved residency in psychiatry. Board Certification in General Psychiatry is expected within three (3) years of hire. A well-qualified candidate will have: * Experience working with patients with serious mental illnesses. * Experience working in a treatment team. * Experience working with the criminal and civil court systems.SDL2017
