Join a nationally ranked, Magnet-designated University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, and care for acutely ill adult patients in a fast-paced cardiac stepdown/IMC environment./n /n/nJob Details/n /n - Weekly Estimated Pay: $2130 - $2250/n - Location: University Hospital, Madison, WI 53792 (Madison, Wisconsin – near downtown lakes and outdoor recreation)/n - Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)/n - Shift: 12 Hour Nights (7:00pm – 7:30am); Monday–Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required/n - Hours per Week: 36/n - Unit: IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic (Cardiac Stepdown / PCU / IMC)/n - Patient Population: Adults, 29-bed unit – cardiac telemetry, post-transplant, pulmonary hypertension, cystic fibrosis, and complex medical-surgical patients/n /n/nTravel RN / Cardiac Stepdown Job Requirements/n /n - Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in cardiac/telemetry, progressive care, or stepdown settings/n - Travel RN experience required/n - WI RN license or compact RN license required (must be in hand at submittal)/n - ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA required)/n - Strong MS/Telemetry experience required (Telemetry RN / Cardiac nursing)/n - Telemetry oncology, cardiac PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience preferred/n - Ventilator and transplant experience required (post-lung transplant care experience highly valued)/n - Trauma Level I or II experience required/n - Epic electronic charting experience required/n - Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start (strict passing criteria)/n - Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)/n /n/nKey Responsibilities/n /n - Provide comprehensive, specialized nursing care to acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities and hemodynamic instability in a cardiac stepdown/IMC setting/n - Manage cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias, and titrate cardiac drips per protocol (Telemetry RN / Cardiac nursing skills)/n - Care for specialty populations including cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant patients/n - Perform and manage IV insulin protocols, titration of insulin drips, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, and renal failure/hemodialysis pre/post care/n - Access and manage ports, arterial lines, PICC lines; administer blood products; follow heparin and PCA protocols; provide procedural sedation support/n - Provide ventilator care and manage ventilated patients in collaboration with respiratory therapy/n - Participate in rapid response/code teams and provide trauma care including ortho trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury/n - Perform wound care and wound VAC management, post-transplant nursing care, and complex medical-surgical interventions/n - Float between IMC/Thoracic/PCU units as needed to meet staffing needs and provide continuity of care/n - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, and physicians — to coordinate patient-centered care/n /n/n /n Experience Madison, WI: work at Wisconsin's 1 hospital while enjoying a vibrant downtown, beautiful parks, lakes, and a strong sense of community.
