Details - Med/Surg Telemetry unit at a Magnet-designated academic teaching and referral hospital in Madison, WI - Patient population spans four surgical specialties: Gynecology, Urology, Plastics, and ENT/Colorectal - Specialized procedures include free flap monitoring for breast reconstruction post-mastectomy and post-operative care for urinary diversion surgeries - Strong focus on airway management, including care of new tracheostomy patients - Day and night shifts available: 7:00–19:30 or 19:00–7:30 (3x12-hour shifts) - Weekend rotation required - Some holiday coverage required based on operational need - Travelers float first; shifts may be assigned across multiple units or locations within the organization if the primary unit census drops - Epic EMR required, preferably with experience within the last 12 months Requirements - Active WI RN license or a compact RN license held from the candidate's permanent state of residence - BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required - Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years - Tracheostomy and surgical nursing experience required - Basic Arrhythmia/telemetry experience required - Must pass a Telemetry competency test prior to start - Epic EMR experience required - Gynecology, urology, plastics, and colorectal surgical experience preferred - Permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility Additional Information - Care for patients undergoing specialized surgical procedures across gynecology, urology, plastics, and ENT specialties - Responsibilities include patient and family education, such as post-operative self-care instruction following urinary diversion surgery - Unit offers strong exposure to airway management and tracheostomy care, beneficial for RNs pursuing critical care in the future - Interdisciplinary team environment with a focus on patient education and specialty surgical recovery - Parking on-site requires a permit through UW Transportation; bus, park-and-ride, and private parking alternatives are also available American Traveler Job ID P-683293.
