unique opportunity is a 100% FTE position scheduled to typically
work Monday through Friday, day shift hours, however some off hours
or weekends may be required. Hours may vary based on the
operational needs of the department. You will primarily work at
University Hospital located in Madison, WI. Be part of something
remarkable! Join our team as a Nurse Education Specialist or a
RN-Education Specialist in a Level 1 Trauma academic medical
center! We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) interested in a
unique opportunity to support the onboarding and professional
development for UW Health’s Cardiac ICU and Critical Care Float
Pool nursing teams: - Areas of support include the Cardiovascular
Medicine and Cardiothoracic Surgery (CVCT) ICU —a 27-bed,
state-of-the-art cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery acuity
adaptable ICU/IMC located at our level one trauma center,
University Hospital in Madison, WI. - CVCT ICU nurses provide
highly specialized care for patients with complex cardiac and
thoracic conditions, including cardiac and thoracic surgery, heart
and lung transplantation, and advanced medical management of
cardiovascular disease. - Advanced therapies and interventions
include ECMO, CRRT, mechanical circulatory devices (VADs), and care
for patients with CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysms
and dissections, post-MI and STEMI (including targeted temperature
management), cardiogenic shock, sepsis, acute renal failure, and
respiratory failure. - Join a dynamic ICU environment ideal for
nurses who value variety, high-acuity care, and opportunities to
educate patients and families with complex needs. - Additional
areas of support include the Critical Care Float Pool, staffed by
experienced ICU nurses who float across all adult ICUs at
University Hospital, including Neuro ICU, TLC
(medical/surgical/trauma intensive care), Burn ICU, and CVCT ICU,
as well as select IMC units as operationally needed. - Facilitate
and conduct onboarding and continued professional development for
primarily experienced inpatient nurses across assigned critical
care areas, including support for specialized and extended
orientation pathways. - Collaborate across departments to assess,
plan, develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive educational
programs supporting critical care nursing practice. - Participate
in system-wide initiatives, new nurse orientation, and
organization-wide competency-based education, partnering with
leadership, CNSs, nurse residency educators, and fellow NESs. -
Bring your clinical expertise; three (3) years of ICU nursing
experience and nursing education experience are highly preferred.
Pay: - Pay range is based on a full-time (100%) position. - Salary
is prorated based on FTE. - Pay range on posting is based on both

$90,552-$135,784 - Nursing Education Specialist Pay Range:

there are two job titles with different qualifications listed
below. - RN-Nursing Educator: - Bachelor of Science – Nursing
degree (BSN) Required - Must obtain Master’s degree in Nursing in
relevant specialty within five (5) years of start date in this
position Required - Nursing Education Specialist: - Master's Degree
in Nursing Required - Master's Degree in Nursing Education
Preferred Work Experience: - RN-Nursing Educator: - Three (3) years
of relevant nursing experience Required - Previous experience as a
nursing educator Preferred - Five (5) years of relevant nursing
experience Preferred - Experience in an academic medical center
Preferred - Nursing Education Specialist: - 3 years of relevant
clinical nursing experience Required - 3 years of relevant clinical
nursing experience with position specific patient population
Preferred - 3 years of experience providing orientation and
education for nursing staff in clinical setting Preferred Licenses
& Certifications: - Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the
State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has
adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required - Basic Life
Support BLS/CPR certification Upon Hire Required - Advanced
Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months
Required - National certification in relevant specialty Preferred
