Work Schedule: Join our team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and
work with nurses practicing general level inpatient care in both
the hospital and home setting! This unique opportunity is a 100%
FTE position scheduled to typically work Monday through Friday, day
shift hours, however some off hours or weekends may be required.
Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
You will primarily work at East Madison Hospital with occasional
travel to UW Health Administrative Office Building (AOB), UW Health
Administrative Services Building (ASB) and the Northport Drive
Clinic, all located in Madison, WI. Description: Be part of

launching and supporting the new 14-bed Med/Surg Short Stay Unit at
East Madison Hospital, shaping care delivery for medical and
surgical patients with 24–48 hour stays in a state-of-the-art,
expanding hospital campus. - Serve as the clinical expert across
short stay and Home-Based Hospital Care (HBHC) populations,
advancing nursing practice and strengthening care for acute
medical, surgical, and hospital-at-home patients. - Identify gaps
in care delivery and lead the design, implementation, and
evaluation of evidence-based interventions that improve throughput,
discharge readiness, patient education, and overall outcomes. -
Mentor and consult with nursing staff to enhance clinical
decision-making, integrate emerging technologies (including remote
monitoring and in-home acute care services), and promote excellence
in general care practice. - Lead quality improvement and research
initiatives while influencing system-level decisions to remove
barriers and optimize care across both hospital-based and
home-based acute care models. - Act as a clinical expert for
specific clinical populations; this position requires a completed
MSN degree and demonstrated expertise in inpatient general care.
Three (3) years or more of recent nursing experience in
medical-surgical inpatient practice strongly preferred to support

Master's Degree or doctoral degree in Nursing Required - Master's
Degree or doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) with CNS role focus
Preferred Work Experience - 2 years of relevant clinical nursing
experience Required - 3 years of relevant clinical nursing
experience Preferred - Previous experience as a clinical nurse
specialist Preferred - Experience in an academic medical center
Preferred Licenses & Certifications - Licensed as a Registered
Nurse (RN) in the state of Wisconsin or holds a license issued by a
jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire
Required - Basic Life Support CPR/BLS certification Upon Hire
