An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse (RN) with acute care experience in the operating room to support complex surgical cases at a top-ranked hospital. This contract role is based in Middleton, WI, offering 12-hour day and evening shifts Monday through Friday, with weekday and weekend call responsibilities, plus possible holiday rotation. Responsibilities include collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and facilitate smooth surgical case progression and turnover. The role entails providing safe, competent, and efficient perioperative patient care aligned with hospital policies and standards. Flexibility to float across multiple units or locations within the organization may be required depending on staffing needs. Key Qualifications and Experience: - Minimum two years of acute care experience within the last three years. - Current Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state. - American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification. - Proficiency with surgical procedures involving ENT, eyes, plastics, and ears including complex surgeries such as vitrectomy, facial repairs, free flaps, cochlear implants, and tracheostomy. - Familiarity with specialized equipment including Constellation, Straight Shot, NIM, Piezo, Klein Pump, and microscopes such as Pentero and Leica. - Ability to coordinate and communicate efficiently to optimize OR workflow. Schedule: - 12-hour shifts, 06:40 AM to 07:10 PM. - Monday through Friday. - Call responsibilities during weekdays, weekends, and potentially holidays. Location Details:This role is situated near University Hospital in Madison, WI, a Magnet-designated facility recognized as Wisconsins 1 hospital and a leading national teaching and referral center. Parking permits are required for onsite parking with alternative transportation options available including bus and park & ride services. This contract nurse position requires the travelers permanent address to be within 50 miles of the primary worksite to ensure compliance with facility policies.
