  Job Summary:
  
  A Burn Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized, critical care to patients who have sustained severe burns, assisting with acute and long-term treatment and recovery. Burn RNs play a vital role in managing the complex medical needs of burn patients, addressing both physical and emotional challenges, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  
  
  
  Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage the care of patients with burns, including evaluating burn severity, wound care, and pain management.
    
    
  • Administer medications, wound care treatments, and intravenous therapies as prescribed by physicians.
    
    
  • Monitor and manage the patient's physical status, including respiratory function, hydration, and electrolyte balance, as burn patients are at high risk for complications.
    
    
  • Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
    
    
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding burn care, wound healing, pain management, and psychosocial aspects of recovery.
    
    
  • Utilize specialized equipment such as wound dressings, pain management tools, and infection control measures to ensure optimal patient care.
    
    
  • Monitor for and respond to signs of complications such as infections, organ dysfunction, or acute distress.
    
    
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes.
    
    
  • Assist in surgical procedures, including skin grafting and wound debridement, as needed.
    
    
  • Provide psychological and emotional support to patients and families dealing with the physical, emotional, and psychological impacts of severe burns.
    
    
  • Participate in research, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development to stay current in burn care best practices.
    
    
  • Ensure adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
    
    
    
    
    
    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
      
      
    • Licensure:

      • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

        • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
