- Certification Details
- Licensure and Certification: BLS must be certified through
American Heart Association ONLY.
- Job Details
- The Surgical Technologist prepares the Operating Room prior to
surgery, promotes the safety of the patient during surgery,
provides assistance to the surgeon during surgery, cares for the
patient during surgery and cares for the instruments and supplies
used in surgery.
- The Surgical Technologist functions to promote the safety of
the patient as a member of the surgical team.
- The incumbent possesses knowledge and skills required to assist
in effectively caring for patients of all age groups (neonate,
pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
- Job Requirements
- Facility Requirement: Traveler must have permanent address
outside 50-mile radius of Madison.
- Experience: Minimum two years of scrub experience or equivalent
relevant experience required.
- Cardiothoracic experience required - heart and lung
transplant.
- Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma
center or similar size hospital.
- Prior traveler experience highly preferred.
- Education: Successfully completed a surgical technologist
program or two years' experience in Surgical Technologist role may
be considered in lieu of completion of program.
- References: Needs 2 references from recent work
environment/assignments (from supervisor or manager only and for
work performed in the last two years).
- Schedule Information
- Floating: Travelers are the first to float to floors working
with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's
competency skills/experience.
- The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units,
depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations
within the organization.
- During the traveler's assignment, if the primary unit no longer
has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to
complete contract.
- Unit Specific Information
- Traveler must meet all minimum requirements to be
considered.
- Do not submit traveler who have or will have expiring licenses
and/or certifications during the time frame of the entire
assignment.
- Only submit a traveler who can work the schedule in posting and
is interested in the unit.
- Additional Details
- UW Health is moving away from using outdated file formats for
Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
