    • $23 per hour to start (May offer higher starting rate based on experience. Also, eligible for an increase after successfully completing initial training period)

        • Administering treatments to animals needing daily meds
        • Collecting diagnostics: fecal samples, x-rays and blood samples
        • Helping vets: catching NHPs, restraining animals, helping coordinate with study techs, helping with urgent vet requests, triaging cases.
        • Performing minor surgeries: NHP tail amputations, NHP finger-tip amputations & laceration repairs, Rodent tail amputations
        • (95% of the time working with large animals, and 5% small animals)Administrative Opportunities:
        • We keep animal health-related site metrics and any other animal welfare-oriented projects. Examples include: NHP diarrhea metrics, NHP artificial intelligence project, BW threshold assessments, outside lab management, IACUC review support, educating study technicians by holding Introduction to Vet Ops training and outreach, and creating any project you are interested in that our lab needs.
        • Schedule
        • 40 hours per week is required.
        • Available shifts are: (To take effect after the completion of Onboarding) 4-10s
        • Occasional weekend support, typically 1 weekend per month.
        • Holiday coverage, typically 1 or 2 holidays per year (as staffing allows). Education Required
          • Bachelor of Science, Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology or Associate degree in Veterinary Technology.
          • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education. Experience/Qualifications
            • CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician preferred but not required
            • Ability to work in a laboratory setting with laboratory animals
            • Ability to interpret and understand a complex protocol including numerous work streams
            • Ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time.
            • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. and able to push or pull 50 lbs.
            • Ability to wear respirators.
            • Ability to work overtime and weekend work as required .
            • Administering injectable anesthesia and occasionally sevoflurane gas anesthesia for rodents
            • Routine animal care: dog dental cleanings, large animal physical exams
            • Stocking treatment room inventory
