Travelers are the first to float. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs. During the traveler s assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need shifts will be re-assigned to another unit to complete contract.Do not submit candidates who have or will have expiring licenses and/or certifications during time frame of entire assignment. Candidates will automatically be declined.The Respiratory Therapist provides treatment and diagnostic respiratory services with patients and families in all clinical areas of UW Health, AFCH and TAC including intensive care units, emergency department, general care, perioperative, procedure areas, and others as required. This position requires clinical assessment skills and the ability to make appropriate clinical decisions and modify care according to clinical protocols. This position requires superb communication skills and the ability to work with the inter-disciplinary team to ensure high quality patient care. The Respiratory Therapist acts as resource to physicians and health care professionals ensuring orders are concurrent with policies and procedures. This position may function as a Charge Therapist with responsibility for ensuring adequate number of respiratory care staff to cover the patient care areas.Minimum Requirements:1 year of experience as a staff therapistEducation- Graduate of a COARC accredited School for Respiratory TherapyTraveler must have permanent address outside 50miles radius of Madison (address must be included in traveler's profile)Successfully completed a 13 weeks of traveling assignment preferred.Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma center or similar sized hospitalPediatric experience preferredNeeds 2 references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only)Licenses Certifications as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Wisconsin is required.*Will consider candidates without WI or compact license but must apply for a temporary license under ACT10 within 48 hours of offer accepted and provide screenshot of application submitted.
