Role Summary: This is a hands-on leadership role and part of the
healthcare division management team. The ideal candidate will have
experience in thermoforming part design, process engineering,
R&D and field service support. Reporting to the General Manager
of the Healthcare Division, this person will be responsible for the
development and execution of technical initiatives across multiple
disciplines; product development/design, application
development/R&D, process engineering and field service. They
will be responsible for leading and developing the healthcare
technical team, as well as day to day project execution.
Accountable for: Leadership and Team Development: -- This person
will be responsible for the development and growth of the technical
team within the healthcare division This person will drive a
culture of innovation and technical excellence within the
healthcare division to support healthcare customer applications and
the strategic growth of the division Provide technical leadership
regarding package design, application development, process
engineering and field service Project Engineering Support: Provide
hands on project engineering support and function as the subject
matter expert (SME) for the technical needs of customers and new
applications in product development discussions for healthcare
applications Communicate and track project timelines and
deliverables Provide technical support to commercial functions
(sales and marketing) when qualifying new markets and customer
opportunities Troubleshoot customer issues and assist with solution
identification/implementation Coordinate the involvement of Plastic
Ingenuity resources to meet customers' expectations and solution
development R&D Support: Research new technologies,
capabilities, and materials to serve target markets and customers
Lead and facilitate trials and testing with internal and external
parties Meet with key accounts to identify current technical needs
as well as discover opportunities for future technical innovations
and new business opportunities Develop value chain partnerships and
a strong industry network to support R&D Process Engineering
Support: Provide input during the design review stage to improve
manufacturability of our parts Function as project manager for new
healthcare tool introductions, and oversee the process from start
to finish working closely with production and quality on initial
tool debug, followed by process validation and establishing the
optimal forming/trimming window and setting processing
specifications Lead process development of the thermoforming
process through parameter optimization, DOE experiments, and trials
that will lead to a robust and repeatable process for healthcare
tools Utilize SPC methods and data analysis to drive process
engineering work Support product launch at customer locations as
needed Minimum Q ualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or
a related technical field with 7 years of relevant manufacturing or
engineering experience Strong project management skills Strong
presentation and communication skills (written and verbal
communication) Must be comfortable and sensitive to working across
diverse cultures Willingness to travel as business and customer
needs require, approximately 25% Desired Qualifications: Attention
to detail is crucial Proficiency with SPC and data analysis
(preferred, not required) Proficiency with Solid works design
software (preferred, not required) Thermoforming and mold-making
experience (preferred, not required) Ability to communicate
effectively with people at all levels of the organization as well
as directly with customers Experience with tooling and a strong
understanding of materials and their properties. Relevant industry
experience preferred (packaging, medical device, target customer
markets, etc.) Desire for continual learning and personal
