Job Description:

The Graduate Nurse is responsible to provide total nursing care of the patient, both direct and indirect, within an assigned patient care unit. This position carries out these responsibilities independently, but works under the guidance of an assigned preceptor. Follows accepted nursing and department practice and is directed by the medical staff. This position provides the knowledge and skills to meet physician, patient, staff, and/or WRMC needs and performs in accordance with WRMC standards and policies.

Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in an Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree program, in Nursing and within 6 months of completion.

Current C.N.A. and CPR preferred.

Must sit for board exam within 30 days of graduation from nursing program.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.


Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.


Relates to employees and physicians in all levels of hospital.


Learns and applies critical thinking, analytical and participate behavior to solving techniques and decision making.


Effective oral and written communication skills including group oral presentations.


Analytical, creative, adaptable, perceptive, persuasive, methodical, orderly, thorough and enterprising.


Initiates work assignments independently without specific direction.


Updates and develops continuous skills to provide care to the changing patient population providing for their growth and developmental needs.


Demonstrates responsibility and accountability according to legal, ethical, professional, educational, and personal development goals.
