POSITION SUMMARY The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is searching for a Gynecologic Oncologist to join a thriving team of eight faculty and four advanced practice providers. The position is preferred to be at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on candidate qualifications. Candidates will devote approximately 50% their professional effort to patient care including outpatient clinics, surgical procedures and participation in the on-call system. The successful applicant will also contribute approximately 50% of their effort to a demonstrated and unique research platform of in gynecologic cancers. Leadership, management and operational skills and knowledge associated with a clinical and research office is necessary. Additional responsibilities include teaching fellows, resident physicians and medical students. Other opportunities to assume leadership roles are dependent upon the interests, experience and performance of the successful candidate as well as the needs of the department and division. The position will require 50% of the applicants time devoted to a new and unique research platform in gynecologic cancers and 50% devoted to clinical productivity. PRINCIPAL DUTIES Clinical responsibilities include participating in the care of gynecologic cancer patients at the UW Hospital and Clinics and all four affiliated and outreach hospital locations, including full-time call for in-patient gynecologic cancer consults and service at UWHC. The incumbent will participate in opportunities for community service at the department, school, and institution levels appropriate to the faculty rank. The faculty member will be an active participant in the clinical, research, and academic service in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Preferred candidate will be a strong gynecologic surgeon and clinician whose practice will be 50% clinical and 50% research oriented. Additionally, the ideal candidate will bring an established research platform that would be unique to the University of Wisconsin Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Candidates will have strong leadership skills and experience and passion for teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. For appointment at associate professor (CHS) level or higher, the candidate must meet criteria as defined in guidelines for appointment or promotion on CHS track in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. Clinical effort will be in the range of 50 - 80% in combination with work in other academic and service mission for a 1.0 FTE position. The incumbent will have demonstrated interest in academic work as it relates to the division, which will include 50% effort in unique research platform in gynecologic cancers as well as teaching programs related to medical students, residents and fellows. The ideal candidate is expected to initiate and participate in research studies, as well as quality and oCompanyome programs related to the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the subspecialty of Gynecologic Oncology. The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - Completion of a four-year approved/accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology. - Completion of three-year approved/accredited fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology. - Candidates should have laparoscopic gynecologic oncology experience. - Completion of at least 3 years of independent clinical practice preferred. - Completion of at least 3 years of research in established research platform preferred. Candidates for Associate Professor (CHS) or Professor (CHS) must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.
