The Community food systems Extension Program is one of several programs within the Extension Department of Youth, Family and Community Development, Community Development Institute. The Community Development Institute provides educational programming to assist leaders, communities, and organizations realize their fullest potential to enhance Wisconsin communities and to enrich the lives of their residents. This position manages and supports outreach educational programs designed to build the capacity of community residents, leaders, organizations and First Nations to build and enhance place-based food systems to improve community health and well-being. The Community Food Systems Program Manager reports directly to the Community Development Institute Director for management and supervision, hiring and employment authority, employment changes, compensation and benefits, supplies and expense budget, development of their plan of work, and performance reviews. This is a Statewide position; the office location to be determined based on successful candidate's preferences and availability of suitable space. Preferred: Doctorate or terminal degree in a discipline relevant to the focus of the extension program. Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience: Required: Four or more years of professional experience in community food systems related work in relation to health and well-being Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills Established track-record of building partnerships with diverse organizations on local, regional or statewide scales Demonstrated educational program development skills including planning and implementing programs, participatory and systems level evaluation, and communicating program impact and value to stakeholders Demonstrated experience effectively interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, disability, sexual orientation and other aspects of human diversity Preferred: Two years or more of supervisory experience Five or more years of professional experience in community food systems related work Experience managing budgets Successful experience obtaining funding through grants, contracts, gifts, and/or revenue generation to help build sustainable programming models Additional Information: Please note that successful applicants are responsible for ensuring their eligibility to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without need of employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of appointment.
