Job Description:
JOB DETAILS:The Technical Director has ongoing responsibility
for all of Young Auditorium's technical operations and for all
performance related equipment. The Auditorium's Technical Director
is the resident authority on the use and operation of all in-house
systems including; lighting, sound, video, staging, rigging,
computer systems, rental equipment, as well as outside technical
support service. The Technical Director reports to the Auditorium
Director and works closely with the auditorium staff, touring
companies, and campus and community users to determine and deliver
high-quality customer-friendly technical support. This is
accomplished with a stage crew consisting of students that are
hired, trained and supervised by the Technical Director and as
appropriate volunteer workers. QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum
Qualifications:Three years of experience in technical theatre
management and/or professional concert sound and lighting
production (including sound, lighting, rigging, audio visual and
recording)Ability to adjust schedule to meet the needs of this
positionCustomer-friendly interpersonal skills that enable relating
well to the diverse students, faculty, administrative staff,
community members and professional contacts that this position
encountersPreferred Qualifications:A bachelor's degree in a
technical theatre arts related field or equivalent professional
technical direction experienceKnowledge Skills and
Abilities:Willingness and ability to be an active participant in
following applicable safety rules and regulations including
necessary training and drillsAbility to interact respectfully with
people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES:Technical Duties:Serve as technical operations
director for all events presented in Young Auditorium, providing
professional quality technical support including obtaining and
operating equipment and services to fulfill contractual
obligationsEffectively plan and advance dates for all technical
requirements, staffing, and logistics for all performances with all
Young Auditorium facilities users, and specifically with Young
Auditorium contracted professional touring artistsMaintain
excellent relationships with campus/community peers and directors,
and other venues and technicians to aid in staffing, equipment
rental/loans, and other resourcesSupervisory Duties:Provide
friendly leadership and guidance regarding all technical needs for
all groups using the Young Auditorium facilitiesRecruit, train, and
lead a well-trained UWW student stage and technical crewDevelop and
administer training programs for the stage crewUtilize volunteers
from volunteer pool for tasks, where possibleSafety Duties:Ensure
safe working conditions and practices for all users. Follow and
insure adherence to local and national public assembly, building,
NFPA, ANSI, ETCP, and OSHA codes, regulations and best
practicesWork with Young Auditorium Director to plan and implement
evacuation/shelter-in-place procedures for artists and backstage
staffMaintenance DutiesMaintain a full equipment inventory and
replacement scheduleCoordinate preventative maintenance and repair
for Young Auditorium equipmentImplement policies relating to the
usage of equipment and the facilityDevelop long range planning for
the equipment and infrastructure of the facilityOffice DutiesAssume
leadership role and provide project management for facility Art,
Lighting, Media, and beautification projectsCompute and process
billing for technical services providedResponsible for payroll of
student technical crewDevelop and implement a budget to determine
and minimize staffing expendituresComplete Young Auditorium special
projects and programs as assignedAttend Young Auditorium staff
meetingsActively engage with and support Young Auditorium
teamSupervision ReceivedThis position receives supervision from the
Director of Young AuditoriumSupervision ExercisedThis position
supervises part time student employees, road show personnel,
private contractors hired to provide special services, and

candidates can expect a minimum starting annual salary of
