OrganizationThe roots of Shipbuilders Credit Union run deep,
tracing back to the early 1900s and The Manitowoc Company. The
Manitowoc Company originally focused on shipbuilding and ship
repair and was known as Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company. In 1938, to
better serve their growing employee base, they established
Shipbuilders Credit Union (SCU). Much like its namesake company,
the credit union was built on a tradition of quality and pride,
with hardworking employees focused on its members. SCU served the
employees and families of Manitowoc Shipbuilding for many years,
and in 1999 they became chartered and expanded their reach to all
of Manitowoc County. Today, the member-owned credit union has more
than thirty employees, an even larger geographic market and two
branch locations in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and one branch location in
Mishicot, Wisconsin. SCU serves over 9,800 members with more than
$117 million in assets. While ships are no longer built in the
community, SCU is proud to continue the tradition of the original
Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company and the individuals who created its
legacy. With a Midwest drive, SCU continues to live and work by the
same values it embraced at its founding: reliable, respectful,
resourceful, and real. When Manitowoc Shipbuilding built a legacy,
Shipbuilders Credit Union created its own tradition of Building
Better Futures for its employees, members, their families, and our
community. To learn more, visit www.shipbuilderscu.org.How to
