Job Description:
Position SummaryResponsible for planning and managing day-to-day
operations of the bookstore, including exceptional customer
service, budget, textbooks, merchandising, and staff
supervision.Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage textbook operations
including adopting, ordering, receiving, stocking, and
selling.Review and approve invoices to ensure accuracy for credit
card processing and payment.Maintain bookstore inventory
records.Collaborate with other departments to establish textbook
strategies and processes, including working with faculty to address
textbook edition changes, out of print textbooks, and textbook
affordability.Respond to and resolve vendor and customer issues,
concerns, and questions.Establish and maintain vendor relationships
for textbooks and general merchandise.Prepare and manage bookstore
budget, daily and weekly reports and deposits, and year-end
inventory process.Provide customer service by responding to general
or specific inquiries from students and staff.Perform sales
activities to include using point of sale system for sales,
returns, and refunds and to process cash and credit/debit card
transactions.Maintain bookstore website to ensure inventory and
general information is up to date.Coordinate the textbook rental
and textbook buy-back processes.Maintain storeroom and bookstore in
a neat and orderly manner.Work with all campuses to ensure textbook
and general merchandise availability at each location.Collaborate
with marketing department to increase presence of bookstore with
student population.Handle sensitive information in accordance with
applicable guidelines and regulations.Supervise, support, and
evaluate the staff in areas of responsibility.Other duties as
assigned.QualificationsAssociate degree in Business, Accounting,
Marketing, or related field required.Minimum of two years of retail
experience or experience in a college/university setting. Retail
management experience preferred.Experience working at a college or
university preferred.Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office
applications, point-of-sale systems, and PeopleSoft applications,
or the ability to learn and use PeopleSoft. Proficient in Microsoft
Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.Must possess
excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication
skills.Must possess ability to:
