*Role*

The role of Assistant Director is energetic administrator, leader and mentor for the nation's first on-demand, play-based-learning, hourly flexible childcare inside a coworking and daily destination lifestyle complex. The Assistant Director serves is equal parts assistant director, teacher, responsive caregiver, and the facilitator for children in the development of social and emotional competency skills based on the six programming values of:

The Assistant Director duties include overseeing the center's operations, maintaining licensing compliance, managing enrollment paperwork and mentoring staff in curriculum implementation to best serve the children's development. This position will also be responsible for opening and closing responsibilities, as well as delegated administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Center Director

*Key Responsibilities*

*OPERATIONS*

- Assists and supports the center director with day-to-day operations of Lodgic Kids Camp.

- Responsible for the opening and/or closing of the childcare center.

- Assumes director's responsibilities in the director's absence and alternate days, nights, and weekends with the center director.

- Participates in recruitment and the orientation of new staff members.

- Assists director in ensuring that the center's grounds, classroom, and office areas are always clean, attractive, and inviting.

- Prepares and has readily available registration and enrollment information for families.

- Ensures that all paperwork is complete before families begin enrollment. Regularly maintains and updates children's files.

- Assists in scheduling and managing daily labor.

- Demonstrates the ability to remain calm and follow the Crisis Plan in the event of an emergency.

- Assists and supports center director with monitoring the maintenance of facility, equipment, and supplies to ensure safety and in good repair.

- Supports director in all additional duties required to successfully operate the center.

- Teaches in a classroom approximately 50% of each shift; more or less depending on drop-in enrollment needs and/or administrative needs.

*TEAM LEADERSHIP*

- Assists the director in planning daily staffing schedules.

- Assists in observations of classrooms and collaborates with director to develop action plans.

- Supports and sustains the positive morale of the staff. Assists in planning team-building opportunities and participates and assists in planning meetings, events, and training sessions.

- Adheres to and ensures that all staff understand and follow all health, safety, and emergency-care protocol and sanitation guidelines.

- Models professional work ethic by reporting to work on time and maintaining consistent attendance.

*LICENSING & COMPLIANCE*

- Responsible for maintaining personnel qualifications with state regulations and completing continuing education courses each year, in addition to the necessary state licensing requirements for directors.

- Responsible for maintaining necessary state licensing requirements for operations in the absence of the Center Director.

*PROGRAMMING AND EDUCATION*

- Under the guidance of the director, evaluates classroom curriculum and environment to ensure that it meets the guidelines of the Flex-Time Curriculum and the Six Big Moose Heart Values in programing.

*PARENT ENGAGEMENT & COMMUNITY RELATIONS*

* Is accessible and available to parents every day. Responds promptly to their concerns with respect, sensitivity, interest, and cooperation.
* Supports director in establishing and sustaining a sense of community through parent involvement and promoting parent retention.

- Supports director in efforts to maintain and grow child enrollment.

- Assists director with family enrollment and tours.

- Assists the director with ensuring that the organization and its mission, operations, services, and brand are consistently presented and perceived in a strong positive image by all relevant stakeholders, inside and outside the organization.

*QUALIFICATIONS*

- Be at least 21 years of age.

- Have completed high school or its equivalent as determined by the Wisconsin department of public instruction.

- Have at least 320 hours of experience as a teacher or assistant teacher in a group child care center or other approved setting or have at least 320 hours of experience as a licensee of a family child care center under DCF 250.

- Have completed at least one of the preservice training requirements in Table 251.05A prior to beginning work as a center director:

o A one-year diploma in child care or early childhood education from an institution of higher education; *OR*

o An associate degree in early childhood education or child care from an institution of higher education; *OR*

o A bachelor's degree from an institution of higher education in early childhood education, education, or child development; *OR*

o A license issued by the Wisconsin department of public instruction indicating that the person is qualified to act as a pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, or early childhood regular or special education teacher. The license may not be a one-year license with stipulations (formerly known as an emergency license); a 3-year, short-term substitute license; or a 5-year long-term substitute license, as defined by the Wisconsin department of public instruction

*EDUCATION*

(_must meet 1 of the following routes)_

- Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's degree in education or child development field (_preferred),_

- A Director's Credential in Early Childhood Development and one (1) year of verifiable full-time paid experience working directly with children in:

o A school-based program following Department of Education guidelines;

o An early childhood development program, such as Head Start; 3. A licensed or certified childcare program; *OR*

- Child Development Associate (CDA) plus one (1) year of verifiable full-time paid experience working directly with children in:

o A school-based program following Department of Education guidelines;

o An early childhood development program (head start); or

o A licensed or certified child-care program; *OR*

- Three (3) years of verifiable full-time paid experience working directly with children in:

o A school-based program following Department of Education guidelines;

o An early childhood development program (head start); *OR*

o A licensed or certified child-care program;
