As a Technical Manager, your essential duties and responsibilities will be: SafetyPromote safety culture within the plant as a strong representative of the technical teamActively engaged in safety procedures, protocols, initiatives, and training requirementsEnsure technical team is promoting and contributing to the plant's safety culture, procedures, protocols, and training requirementsQuality SupportTechnical Manager is the key technical contact for all quality issues at specific plantLead technical team's support of the quality culture at the plant.A3 - Lead and manage all technical activities to support A3 initiatives:Stay current on recent quality complaints/root causesStay current on non-compliance material/root causes/occurrencesAttend and participate in A3 plant meetingsManage the plant's technical team to actively support initiatives to reduce complaints, non-compliance occurrences, and scrap due to poor qualityParticipate on HACCP teamOperational SupportLead and delegate technical projects to support all plant specific goals and objectivesLead and/or delegate sample runs at the production lineLead and/or delegate new raw material investigation and substitution effortsSupport operation with new line commissioning tasksAttend and participate in plant leadership meetingsTechnical and Customer SupportProduct Life Cycle Support: lab testing, data analysis, product recommendation and design, quote, ERP item set up, sample and scale-up support, long-term product continuous improvement, grade consolidation, item transfers to and from primary plant location Document, track, and publish write-ins/temp BOMs or work order change requestsUnderstand current resin usage, resin back-up status, identify potential gaps and make recommendations for improvementParticipate in weekly and monthly technical team calls - lead presentations on plant technical performance, cost avoidance initiatives, and quality events Cost Avoidance InitiativesIdentify, lead and delegate specific cost avoidance projects and initiativesSupport corporate and plant-specific scrap initiatives by identifying and reporting actionable goalsDevelop report out on key cost avoidance progress Lead and delegate efforts in consuming obsolete or discontinued raw materials in the plant's inventory within the calendar yearStay current on repro generation, consumption and demand while managing team to optimize Leadership Responsibilities Ensure your team's key performance criteria and job functions are being effectively metCoach and mentor direct reports to achieve individual performance goalsProvide opportunities for the appropriate development of direct reportsPromote engagement by fostering positive morale and addressing issues that negatively affect moraleMonitor workflow and workload, communicate departmental goals, delegate projects and tasks appropriatelyIdentify and address individual performance issues in a timely mannerConduct annual performance reviews, recommend bonus amounts, promotions and/or merit-based wage increases based on performanceChampion annual metrics and regular progress update report-outs Intangible ResponsibilitiesProactively seek educational opportunities to expand knowledge to benefit the individual and the companyOther duties as assigned by direct manager or corporate leadershipBe able to manage & prioritize multiple projects/tasks in order minimize response timeDemonstrate a continuous professional attitude with all levels of internal and external personnel At CNG, our culture is built on trust, treating each other like family, and being proactive with sustainable initiatives. BS in Chemistry or Polymer Science with appropriate emphasis may also qualify.
