and maintains property/casualty claims. Determines liability,
secures information, reviews coverages, arranges appraisals, and
settles claims. May work in the field or central location.Job
SummaryThe Claim Manager III is responsible for the execution of
the strategic direction for claims. Facilitates continuous
development of people, processes and culture to ensure customer
service industry leadership. Establishes and fosters positive
relationships with business partners to provide seamless claim
service. May specialize in liability, property or catastrophe
claims and may lead a team of desk adjusters or field adjusters.Job
Description:Job Level Summary
- Manages professional employees and/or supervisors.
- Has accountability for the performance and results of a team
within own area of specialty.
- Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource
and operational challenges.
- Decisions and problem solving are guided by policies,
procedures and department plan; receives guidance from
manager.
- Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or
customers.
Primary Accountabilities
- Directs the use of non-waivers, reservation of rights, and
excess letters. Works with inside and outside counsel on lawsuits.
Oversees the establishment and maintenance of adequate and accurate
reserves for claims.
- Directs the use of the company on-line processing system,
computerized estimating systems, personal computers and applicable
software.
- Responsible for compliance with unfair claims practices acts
and assures handling of claims in good faith. Adheres to corporate
claim standards, company claim bulletins, and the company code of
ethics. Reviews, authorizes, and approves settlement of claims
within limit of authority. Completes high damage reviews as
appropriate.
- Manages vendor work product, expenses and customer focus.
- Compiles, maintains, and analyzes data to achieve proper
allocation and use of branch personnel. Forecasts future personnel
requirements to assure quality customer service while maintaining
cost control.
- Prepares and manages annual operating budget.
- Assist in preparing business plans.
- Identifies and implements opportunities for process
improvements.Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions,
support, -or service.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of office and field claim
handling processes.
- Demonstrated thorough understanding of policy language,
coverages and underwriting intent.
- Demonstrated organization and time management skills with the
ability to work under pressure and adhere company productivity
guidelines.
- Demonstrated claims handling experience and licensing.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize developing problems/conflicts
and ability to resolve.Education & Licenses
- Valid driver's license required plus an acceptable driving
record.
- Obtain state specific property casualty claims licensing as
required.Travel Requirements
- This position requires travel up to 25% of the time.
- Must be willing to travel for Catastrophe duty if
