JOB TITLE: Corporate Safety ManagerCURRENT LOCATION: Baraboo, WisconsinFUTURE LOCATION: Madison, WisconsinREPORTS TO: Director of EHS & SustainabilityCLASSIFICATION: ExemptPOSITION SUMMARY:Are you up for the challenge of helping Foremost Farms become the safest dairy operation in the world! To support this focus area, Foremost Farms is seeking a passionate and innovative Corporate Safety Manager to join our team. In this position, the Corporate Safety Manager will be responsible for providing support to our network of processing plants and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. The Corporate Safety Manager will be responsible for instructing and training our plant leaders in Foremost policies and assisting the Operations teams in incorporating our standards at their site. A successful Corporate Safety Manager will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the operations team and inspire change.ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Roles & Responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategic leadership to guide the development and execution of Foremost Farms' safety program
  • Provide leadership and direction in all areas of risk assessment, safety and loss prevention, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, regulatory compliance, security and emergency response plans.
  • Lead projects of significant scope to include safety culture and management of change program initiatives.
  • Champion the company safety council and mentor operational safety committees.
  • Develop leading safety metrics to identify actionable safety targets and incident root cause solutions.
  • Leverage lessons learned and develop continuous improvement safety programs.
  • Provide safety service, technical leadership solutions, programs, best practices and technical guidance to business management and operational functions to effectively and efficiently manage compliance assurance and safety management plan(s).
  • Implement training programs to support and strengthen operational processes and employees.
  • Manage audit programs, and ensure programs continuously evolve and are implemented effectively.
  • Function in a safety leadership role for occupational and government agency enforcement actions, regulatory proposals, permitting issues and negotiations.
  • Manage multiple sites through corporate presence and remotely.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records and documents.
  • Timely and accurate completion of duties.
  • Frequent travel for work, up to 70% of the time.REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:The following are required competencies of the position that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
    • Computer Skills: Ability to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a manner that achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this position.
    • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret legal cases, general business periodicals, professional journals, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and safety policies and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions concerning safety issues from groups of managers, executives and employees.
    • Mathematical Skills: Ability to correctly add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to correctly compute rate, ratio, and percent.
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of governmental laws and technical information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Other Skills & Abilities: Requires the ability to operate various office equipment to include a calculator, telephone, and personal computer. Requires the ability to organize and coordinate safety/loss control procedures. Requires the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle while observing all traffic laws. Requires ability to travel to all plants regularly.
    • The ability to drive a motor vehicle, and maintaining a valid driver's license.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.       • Physical Demands - Employee is frequently (more than 75% of time) required to: use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, sit; to verbally communicate; and to hear. The employee is occasionally (up to 50% of the time) required to walk and stand, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste or smell, and use foot/feet to operate machine controls. The employee must occasionally (up to 33% of the time) lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
      • Work Environment - Employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne participles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to non-weather wet, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, non-weather-related extreme heat and cold, works near moving mechanical parts, and sources of electric shock and vibration.
      • Protective Equipment - Employee must wear PPE that is suitable for the job being performed, such as safety glasses, a hard hat, hair net and hearing protection, as required when working in production areas.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:This position requires a bachelor's degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field of study. Possess knowledge related to the job and five to seven years of job-related experience.
