Job Description:

Responsible for development and execution of New Product Development projects and launches. Responsible for ensuring strategic, robust new product pipeline and effective and efficient processes to deliver the pipeline. Collaboratively develops NPD strategies, cross-functionally leads technical execution of new products that meet Trademark Excellence (TE) and Quality standards. Partners with Project Management in overcoming project hurdles to define / meet timelines and Trademark Excellence standards. Delivers research and technology advancement projects to drive value for the Enterprise and our Operators.

Talent Management

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Advocates for effective execution of the performance management process by collaborating with direct report/s to set clear objectives, goals and expectations
Conducts regular coaching and constructive feedback discussions to review performance and goal progress, assist with challenges, and identify strengths and development areas, all to support Associate professional and career development, while increasing engagement and motivation
Manages / mentors Associates and ensures that Associates are accountable by having clear objectives, responsibilities, goals, and development plans
Supports workforce planning and talent acquisition strategies by effectively staffing and hiring diverse talent for the organization
Addresses Associate relations and performance issues in a timely manner and/or makes appropriate decisions relative to performance challenges

Management Of New Product Development (NDP) And Cheese Research
With strong collaboration from others, ushers the cross-functional definition of the new product pipeline and manages the aligned portfolio with cross-functional agreement
Delivers the NPD pipeline on time, to TE standards ensuring project advancement through both the development and launch phases
Develops close relationships with Engineering, Operations, QA, Trademark Excellence, Project Management, and Sales and Marketing
Clearly and proactively communicates with the necessary functions to ensure timely delivery of projects
Anticipates and proactively identifies and clears potential project hurdle to ensure on-time and on-target delivery of projects
Creates tools, processes and scientifically disciplined approaches for continuous improvement and efficiency for product execution and process development
Responsible for all aspects of product development including designing experiments, documentation, and recommendations and developing a robust commercial process with Trademark products (Operations, Engineering and Trademark Excellence)
Ensures the depth activities, budget, and human resource responsibilities
Ensures project managers and team members utilize the Stage-Gate and project management processes effectively to mitigate risk
Collaborates with Project Management to continuously improve such processes
Effectively communicates to appropriate departments and external partners
Develops key relationships with internal and external partners
Identifies, initiates and leads partner & develop opportunities for R&D deliverables

Develops And Manages Key Scientific Core Competencies
Implements scientific core competencies in cheese technology, microbiology, and analytical chemistry
Implements best practices and new scientific methodologies for research, new product development, technical services, and quality assurance; tests, validates, and purchases research and pilot plant equipment
Advocates for and ensures a "world-class" scientific knowledge base and capability
Maintains and develops appropriate external scientific contacts and resources; attends key scientific meetings as needed
Ensures team keeps abreast of scientific literature and patents; communicates relevant scientific information to other groups

Strategy Development (with input from various key cross-functional groups)
Develops and implements key departmental initiates for Cheese New Product Development and develops timelines and action plans to accomplish
Actively develops New Product Development and Research ideas / programs and leads Strategic Long-Range Planning within the confines of NPD with strong collaboration from cross-functional partners
Develops and implements departmental goals and initiatives
Serves as a member of the R&D Leadership Team. Role models leadership values
As a member of the R&D Leadership team defines, leads, and delivers initiatives to continuously improve the R&D department. Technical Qualifications
Broad-base scientific skills and cheesemaking knowledge (microbiology, chemistry, statistics, biology, sensory science, food science, dairy science, biochemistry)
Product development expertise, thorough understanding of testing methodologies and application of statistical tools
Effective writing, presentation, interpersonal and communication skills
Talent management and cross functional work experience
Leading and participating in multidisciplinary teams
Strong strategic thinking and project management skills
