Marketing Director-Life Insurance Vertical Job Purpose:Reporting to the VP, Marketing, the Director will lead the Life Insurance Vertical in a multi-product, multi-team agile environment. The role, as part of our Marketing leadership team, is expected to deliver sustained, profitable growth, paying equal attention to consumer experience, team development, culture, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) growth.In this role, the Director will connect a cross-functional team of Media, Creative, Analytical, Digital, Call Center, Marketing Operations, and Data team members to deliver annual business plans, build multi-year roadmaps and capabilities, and create an E2E approach to our business, valuing both current year sales and lifetime value. The Director does not have any direct reports but leads teams through matrixed reporting relationships.The Director role will have responsibility for delivering the sales, revenue, expense, and consumer experience plans, working hand-in-hand with our Capability leaders. The Director will work collaboratively to prioritize work with stakeholders and other Vertical Leaders in the Direct to Consumer (D2C) Experience Unit on shared roadmaps, work backlog, and project prioritization. Success will require positive cross-functional relationships across the organization.As noted, culture, customer focus, DE&I, and team development are also required and highly valued.Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop direct marketing strategies, deliver campaign results, and meet growth objectives for the Vertical Area
  • Work cooperatively with Marketing partners to build and deliver multi-year marketing capability roadmaps
  • Develop sales plans and sales/expense forecasts
  • Create a shared growth vision for the Vertical Area; communicate effectively across all levels
  • Build effective teams that apply their diverse skills to achieve common goals
  • Develop people; provide timely feedback to help meet their career goals and the organization's goals
  • Participate as a member of the Marketing leadership team
  • Help develop cultural and DE&I initiatives across the D2C Experience Unit
  • Work collaboratively to develop and execute E2E consumer experiences across the value chain
  • Understand consumer trends and customer segments
  • Work cross-functionally with the Analytics team to establish and manage key performance indicators
  • Work cross-functionally with Product and Finance teams to define ROI on proposed plans and report on actual performance to meet profitability thresholds
  • Work cross-functionally with the Marketing Ops teams for prioritization, planning, and execution of sales campaigns
  • Work cooperatively with competitive analysis teams to build and share industry expertise, including product, media, and sales channel trendsThe above statement of duties is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties will be assigned from time to time.Job Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or other related fields or trade-off in related professional experience; MBA helpful
    • 10 years of experience leading cross-functional teams responsible for growing sales or service goals, preferably in a direct marketing business
    • End-to-end knowledge of the sales funnel and experience with a variety of online and offline media and sales channels
    • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing, cross-functional teams in an agile environment with indirect reporting relationships
    • Financial acumen and ability to communicate financial results to senior leaders
    • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills; experience presenting to senior leaders, internal and external business partners, and cross-functional teams
    • Experience in strategic planning and developing/implementing change initiatives to improve sales growth and customer experience
    • Understanding how to use consumer insights and data-driven methods to grow revenue and consumer experience, preferably in a direct marketing business
    • Experience working in a highly regulated industry
    • Highly motivated, self-starter with an ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritizing time and resources based on business impact
    • Possess a strong creative sensibility, leadership skills, and analytical ability
    • Proven track record of displaying ownership, urgency, and sound decision making skillsPreferred Qualifications:
      • Hands-on experience creating revenue growth in a direct marketing environment
      • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed, agile environment
