As part of the team, each contribution is integral to the overall success of the company,Role Summary:The Chemical & Polymer Application Engineer is closely aligned to the activities of a chemical engineer and caters to the production and use of polymers. They are responsible for developing new materials and supporting processes that enable innovative manufacturing technologies to solve complex design challenges that have direct impact to future quality and delivery of products. The individual in this role will serve as a focal point in the material development/selection/process development of advanced key process modules from the concept/architecture stage through product engineering validation builds.Personality and Interest Profile:You may enjoy this role if you:

    Accountable for:
    • Work as part of an integrated product team utilizing resources to take a technical challenge from concept or problem identification, through to production release or final solution.
    • Lead the development of processes that take new materials from a laboratory environment to a production setting in commercial-scale volumes.
    • Create processes that will enable polymer materials to be created more efficiently and cost effectively as manufacturing processes evolve
    • Determining new applications for polymer materials that will ultimately be developed into new product options and introduced into the marketplace
    • Collaborating with other departments to develop strategies, initiate new programs, deploy project plans, scope cost, and drive toward technical targets. Project scopes will range from R&D activities and new product development through the qualification and delivery phases.
    • Define test procedures and qualification reports in support of project deliverables, as assigned.
    • Travels to satellite plants as necessary.
    • Collaborate with the sales and marketing departments in (i) consolidating PI positions with existing customers by offering them new technology, and (ii) in securing new business with existing PI products.
    • Collaborate with purchasing department in the qualification of new vendors and raw materials.Minimum Qualifications:
      • This position requires a Bachelor's in Chem Engr, Materials Sci, Polymer Engineering, or related field from a 4-year college or university.
      • At least four years of experience in polymer research and development or a related field
      • Must be proficient in all facets of polymer technology, including the chemistry, processing, and synthesis needed to create polymer materials.
      • Must have strong project management skills and can successfully navigate through ambiguity.
        Desired Qualifications:
        • Master's Degree preferred
        • Additional studies or industry experience in thermoplastic polymers and applications
        • Experience in thermoplastic processing in a production setting
        • 5 years' experience in a fast paced, complex manufacturing environment preferred.
        • Experience supporting change management efforts.
