Sallis, MDPosition Overview:Under the direction of the Strength team Engineering manager, the Design Engineer will perform miscellaneous technical engineering assignments having to do with product design, manufacturing, and related areas to assist with and to resolve problems. In addition to the Engineering duties, this individual will consistently work on Document control tasks relating to the creation, maintenance, organization, and improvement of technical related documentation. This is a non-supervisory position.Responsibilities:Personnel: - Work with other members of the product development team to translate customer requirements into engineering product specifications. - Coordinate product design with manufacturing services to assist them in methodizing tooling, etc. - May provide work direction to technicians or designersResearch & Development: - Research and develop engineering test specificationsProduct Development: - Interpret designs, assist, and instruct designers, make calculations, examine specifications. - Check original drawings for accuracy of dimension and detail. - With assistance, develop DFMEA - Assist Product Management in the development and maintain PPS (Product Project Specifications) - Responsible for identifying, managing, and identifying all compliance requirements - Hold technical reviews (brainstorm sessions and design reviews) - Develop and maintain a structured BOM (Bill of Materials) - Support and trouble shoot the introduction of new products and in particular beta and pilot builds into manufacturing. - Coordinate with Manufacturing and Purchasing to ensure the product is producible and meets the costing requirements defined in the product specification - With little assistance, complete strength and fatigue analysis of all design proposals to ensure the product meets the design requirements - Determine and maximize container utilization and package size - Meets all project milestones and deadlinesDCC: - Coordinate efforts with factory teams to update documentation information. - Proofread, correct, and suggest improvements for Exploded diagrams and service Bills of Materials. - Assist engineering with new product development as it relates to technical support and documentation - Assist with NPD project tracking and milestone recording (weekly and monthly) - Publish Product Plan monthly update (recording information and submitting to team) - NPD weekly report submission - KPI Measurement tracking for NPD (On-Time and Cost) vs SOPMarginal Job Functions: - Other projects as assigned.
