The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks a full time, 9-month, tenure
track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor whose
research focus is relevant and impactful to the Wisconsin dairy
industry and complements existing faculty strengths. Areas of
specialization could include but are not limited to agricultural
production economics, commodity markets, environmental economics,
consumer demand, international trade, agricultural policy,
agribusiness, community economic development, and related fields
that will impactfully contribute to the dairy industry. We
specifically seek an applied researcher with the quantitative and
empirical skills needed to contribute to the Department's core
missions, who also has the interest and ability to pursue research
that adds to the Dairy Innovation Hub's capacity in its growing
farm businesses and communities' priority area.
This newly-created position is the second in the Department of
Agricultural and Applied Economics to be supported by the Dairy
Innovation Hub in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
The Hub is an exciting new initiative at the three leading UW
agricultural schools (UW-Madison, UW-Platteville, and UW-River
Falls) to foster dairy research, education, and outreach in the
priority areas of Stewarding Land and Water Resources, Ensuring
Animal Health and Welfare, Growing Farm Businesses and Communities,
and Enriching Human Health and Nutrition. The position will support
the "Growing Farm Businesses and Communities" priority area and
will join a world-class university and a college with diverse
expertise in agricultural and life sciences. The tenure home will
be in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. The
Wisconsin dairy sector has a strong collaborative relationship with
the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is highly motivated to help
explore and develop innovative solutions to the industry's
challenges. As a Hub?supported position, the faculty member will
also have the opportunity to collaborate with other Hub
researchers, pursue Hub funding opportunities, and participate in

Perform research, teaching, and outreach in an area of expertise in
ways that are relevant to dairy agriculture and related fields.
Develop and carry out a vigorous extramurally-funded research
program recognized at state-, national-, and international-levels
for innovative approaches to advancing farm businesses and
communities. The candidate will work independently and also within
a collaborative research team to support the mission of the Dairy
Teach classes in their department which also contribute to college
undergraduate and graduate programs. Teaching responsibilities will
be commensurate with college expectations and consistent with the
teaching loads of other departmental faculty.
Facilitate interdisciplinary efforts and collaborative efforts
within their department, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences,
and federal labs.
Contribute to outreach and service functions of the department,
college, university, and professional societies. Community
outreach, including the ability to reach diverse audiences, is
central to this position. Moreover, consistent with the mission of
the University of Wisconsin System, the candidate will be committed

PhD in economics, agricultural economics, or a related discipline
Successful candidates will have a record of or demonstrate

ii) Publications in peer reviewed journals

the Dairy Innovation Hub
