SummaryGeneral InformationSalary:For GS-05: $33,949 (Step 01) to $44,130 (Step 10);For GS-06: $37,843 (Step 01) to $49,200 (Step 10) NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired atthe Step 01.ResponsibilitiesAs an Administrative Operations Assistant within the National Wildlife Health Center, some of your specific duties will include: Preparing a full range of documentation to support requested personnel actions.Reviewing existing program directives to develop, update and provide interpretation to customers.Preparing administrative reports for operations and functions.Serve as the time administrator of the center to include transmitting payroll actions.Maintains a filing and record keeping system.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentApplicants must be U.S. Citizens.Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation.The duration of the Recent Graduates appointment is a trial period.More requirements are listed under Qualifications and Other Information.Are There Any Special Requirements For This Position? Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.QualificationsEligibility RequirementsIn order to be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Recent Graduate Program you must meet the following requirements: You must be a recent graduate who has completed, within the previous two years, an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution such as an accredited technical or vocational school; a 2- or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum. Note: Certificate program is defined as post-secondary education in a qualifying educational institution equal to at least one academic year of full-time study thats part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum.Veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their 2-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty; however, eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed 6 years from the date on which the degree or certificate was obtained.The date of release or discharge from active duty should be later than the date the degree or certificate was obtained. One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Example of GS-4 level work: Performs a full range of assignments consisting of related steps, processes or methods; responses differ in nature and sequence; requires knowledge of an organization's programs and operations, rules and processes. Exercises initiative in completing recurring assignments; uses judgment in selecting appropriate guidelines and procedures from among a number of specific references.**ORB. A full four years of progressive, successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is a prerequisite may be used to meet the qualification requirements for GS-5. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university.**ORC. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and specialized experience may be used to meet the qualification requirements for GS-5. Only progressive education in excess of the first 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours (i.e., beyond the first two years) of a course of study is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.(CLICKHEREFOR DETAILS ON HOW TO COMBINE UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION & SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE)For GS-06:Applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-6 level:A. One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Example of GS-5 level work: Performs standard and nonstandard assignments involving different and unrelated processes or methods in varying sequence; work requires extensive knowledge of rules, operations, or business practices. Follows accepted practices in resolving nonrecurring problems and meeting deadlines; completed products are evaluated for effectiveness in meeting goals; extensive guidelines in the form of instructions, manuals, and regulations are applied.**ORB. Applicants may substitute successful completion of 1/2 year of appropriate graduate level education (9 semester hours, 13.5 quarter hours or the equivalent) in a field of study directly related to the work of this position for the required one year of specialized experience. Graduate education may be credited only when it is clearly directly related to the work of this position and equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.**ORC. Applicants may substitute a combination of appropriate specialized experience (as described above) and graduate education (as described above) to meet the qualification requirements.All applicants must meet qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement.EducationExperience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
