About the Team The Technology Team at SWIB is approximately 30 staff over four groups; Business Systems, Database & Development, Security and Infrastructure & Operations. These groups support the implementation and development of industry leading systems and platforms to support SWIBs diverse and complex set of investment portfolios and strategies. The Technology Team at SWIB strives to be a trusted advisor and partner to the business that is valued as a critical contributor to SWIBs continued growth and success. We effectively leverage technology to derive the maximum value from it and achieve SWIBs business goals. We keep technology aligned with SWIBs future direction and operate SWIBs technology according to industry standards. The Applications Developer position is responsible for development and support for the majority of SWIBs application portfolio, including development on 3rd party applications, SWIB developed applications, and the integration of those applications. The Application Developer role is to define, develop, test, analyze and maintain new and existing applications. This includes writing, coding, testing and analyzing programs and applications with a strong emphasis on investment data. The Application Developer will also research, design, document and modify software specifications throughout the system development life cycle. Essential activities: Conducting applications development and support activities pertaining to both investment and investment support areas as assigned, including analysis, design, programming, testing, and implementation of new and existing custom-developed software applications. Assisting in the implementation and integration of newly-acquired third party vendor systems and/or additional modules of software products already utilized by SWIB. Developing, implementing, and maintaining data and/or reporting interfaces for investment and investment support applications. Finding, recommending, and implementing efficiencies in day-to-day operations. Independently diagnosing and resolving system issues and leading small to medium sized projects. Ensuring that application problems and system failures are addressed and responded to in a timely manner. Accepting and resolving issues that arise in applications the team supports and assisting other IT staff to support various investment and investment support areas as needed. Coordinating with other areas to install, document, and test application functionality. Estimating and reporting progress on assigned tasks and recommending improvements and efficiencies to processes and applications. Being familiar with information flows and processes relating to investment information and business and administrative functions of the agency as assigned, and documenting and maintaining these processes accordingly. Keeping supervisors and appropriate users informed of issues, status, and progress. Being aware of trends and staying current with technology through professional development activities (i.e., reference materials, conferences, training). Continually building knowledge of business finance and investment terminology and accounting and audit practices. The ideal candidate: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or 5 years of work experience in application development. 7 or more years experience in a financial services company preferred. 7 or more years experience in Oracle, MS SQL Server, Markit EDM, ActiveBatch, Tableau, SSRS, C#.NET, ASP.NET, SSIS or Eagle PACE. Analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to perform tasks of high complexity and to modify processes, plans and designs as needed. Experience implementing large integrated enterprise applications. Familiar with Agile and SDLC development methodologies. Ability to participate in requirements review to ensure full understanding and ask clarifying questions. Ability to provide feedback and technical guidance for proposed solutions. Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively at all organizational levels with written and verbal communication skills. Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Thorough understanding of back office, accounting, and warehouse functions and applications.
