Job Description:
Introduction
The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA),
Construction and Facility Management Office (CFMO) Planning and
Programing Branch, is seeking a GIS Summer Intern (IS Data Services
Professional) for summer 2024. This paid internship experience will
offer students practical, challenging, and meaningful on-the-job
work experience. The internship provides an opportunity to apply
knowledge and demonstrate strengths while assisting the CFMO's
mission efforts.
Our convenient location is near Madison College and adjacent to the
Dane County Regional Airport with access to major highways. Our
facility includes a fantastic fitness center, indoor pickleball
court, and free on-site parking.

Position Summary
As a Department of Military Affairs GIS Intern, you will play an
integral part of our team, while gaining real-world experience and
a comprehensive understanding of mapping, asset management, and
Spatial Technology within a Wisconsin state government agency. The
intern will collect GIS Data using GPS/GNSS devices and ESRI,
utilize software for high accuracy field data collection, create
and modify GIS dataset while maintaining data integrity, assist GIS
team with quality control and quality assurance of GIS data and
follow data collection and management protocol inside multiple
databases.
Salary Information
The pay will be $21.23 per hour.
Job Details
All applicants will be required to allow the DMA to conduct a
background clearance check to gain access to the installation.
Will have a valid driver's license (from any state) for travel to
various DMA locations throughout Wisconsin. Limited Term Employees
must be a resident of Wisconsin.
Previous or current military experience is not a requirement.
The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at
the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired
will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the
United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form
I-9.
All new employees are required to attend a New Employee Orientation
course on the first business day (Monday; Tuesday if Monday is a
state holiday) of their first pay period.
Qualifications
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be:
Undergraduate students that have completed their sophomore or
junior year and are pursuing a degree in Geographic Information
Systems or Civil Engineering .
Experience with:
